Curios – Another Rarer Manikin
In one of our previous Curios posts we featured a wooden horse manikin. Meant as an artist’s aid and reference for drawing horses, this is rather rarer than the standard human form and human hand artists models found in many shops. However, as mentioned, this isn’t the most unusual animal to have a manikin in the shop (cont. below)
The L-12 Lizard is a 12″ (30cm) long fully-articulated wooden lizard. Useful for artists drawing lizards (since live lizards need to be bribed to keep still!), it is also a nice talking point and desk toy.
Unlike the horse mannequin, the lizard mannequin doesn’t have as long and storied history in artwork. However it also doesn’t have a mane and tail to pull out, and stands independently. The limbs are fully articulated: for example to go back in its box, they simply fold along the lizard’s sides.
In the absence of artists fond of lizards, while this is not exactly a toy and probably not good for young children, it is could be a rather good desk toy. And frankly somewhat adorable.
