Stand-up Spiders – Plastic, Card, and Foamboard!
For Halloween, spooky spiders are a feature. You can find plastic spiders and similar in the shop, but if you want to give it a personal touch, why not make your own?
Black card and a pair of scissors are all you need for a spooky silhouette of a spider: Just trace it and cut it out! (Here’s one to start with: Free Spider silhouette on Pixabay)
Or if you want something more robust, you can make it out of mountboard or foam board. Foamboard comes in black and white, and A3 or A4 sizes for a large and very spooky Spider…

Then copy it onto your chosen card, and cut it out. Cut the slots in the legs just large enough to fit over the thickness of the card and side them on. You can glue them for extra strength if the card is too weak.
Then dress it up with tissue paper webs, add googly eyes, or cut extra card fangs to make it your very own scary spider at Halloween! Or just cut the legs from foamboard and attach them to your trick-or-treat bucket to make it a trick and treat all in one!
